About Me__Contact
_Bundefjorden is the inner
_part of the larger Oslo Fiord.
_Being close to Oslo the water
_is polluted and the shores
_partly urbanized.
_There are too many boats
_around (including mine),
_there are few islands and the
_wildlife is not exactly teeming.
_However, this is where I live
_and where spend much of my
_time, and if you look closely
_there is interesting wildlife
_even here. In wintertime the
_fiord is normally covered with
_(thick) ice. I have a little house
_close to the shore and
_accordingly global warming
_worries me in more than one
_aspect !
_Until then : Be my guest !

_Behind my house there
_are pockets of relatively
_untouched nature. Picture

_Male goldeneye (kvinand)
_Goldeneyes are only seen in
_the fiord in migration periods.

_Guillemot (lomvi) belongs
_to the open sea in other
_regions. Still a few can
_be seen in the fiord in all
_icefree periods.

_Little Auk (alkekonge) is
_small like a starling and very
_rare. Sometimes a few can get
_blown into the fiord in stormy
_periods.

_Unfortunately I have never
_seen a wild lynx (gaupe).
_However I found these lynx
_tracks around my house in
_the winter of 2007.
_Fascinating !

_Razorbills (alke) are very
_rare birds in our region.
_However, in the automn of
_2007 many were blown into
_the fiord by a gale at sea.
_For a short period there were
_lots of them around my house
_(thousands). Almost all of the
_birds died of hunger after a few
_weeks.

_This shark (brugde) feeds
_merely on plankton and is
_the second biggest fish in
_the world. Unfortunaly
_this one ended its life in
_my net under the ice in the
_winter of approx 1980.
